Welcome to Betrayed, everyone! At first I thought I would be lazy and just put the advertisement text here, but I thought you all deserved a little bit more of an intro. Betrayed is a fantasy wild equine RPG. Now, this doesn't mean wings and horns and crazy markings, so sit tight! The plot is based on the Amaro archipelago, which has been untouched by humans. However, humans had left earth thousands of years before, leaving it dangerously polluted. The horses of Amaro seemed to thrive on it, though, beginning to live to almost two hundred years old thanks to the mutated vegetation. Also, Betrayed's plot is centered strongly upon a religious feud between the Fates and the Celestials, who constantly quarrel over who, in their pasts, told the real truth of their goddess, Ayana. Haha, it seems I'm just confusing everyone at this point. Take a look around (at the history of Amaro for example) and enjoy your stay!

Season: Winter
Season Changes: June 30th
Year: 2

The seasons have made their rounds, and a new year has begun in the dead of Winter. Snow blankets the lands of Amaro like a flawless blanket, and ice engulfs all but the deepest lakes and rivers. Temperatures have plummeted, hovering just above freezing in some places, and to degrees below zero in others. Food is harder to find than normal, but digging a bit always turns up some nourishing scraps. One must stay strong and lively in this coldest new year, or face the worst of consequences.

Oh my gosh, is that a NEW SKIN?! It is! Send all of your thank you's to Tempy for helping with codes, etc. I don't know what I'd do without her! <3 Also, welcome dear Crimson to the co-admin staff! She's done so much for Betrayed, and she has definitely earned the title.
Now, with all the love and fun stuff behind, GET ACTIVE! We've hardly had any activity recently, and I'm ready for that to change. Next AC, deletions will be made, so keep an eye out for yourself!

THE BETRAYAL
-----------------------------------------------------------------
The history of Amaro began just a few centuries after the humanoids vanished. An archipelago somewhere in the Pacific was just one of those that had been abandoned, the creatures there left to starve. In fact, many did, including countless numbers of the usually enduring equids. However, a handful survived, two of these being siblings, Ba'al and Aurora. One night, the equine goddess Ayana visited Aurora in a dream, choosing her as her messenger for her pure heart and strong spirit. Ayana had seen the way that humans had treated her children, and how her children treated each other as a result. Her merciful heart was broken, and so she knew it was time to intervene. "Go," she commanded Aurora, "preach to my children, your siblings, the goodness that I have granted them." Aurora did what she was told of her as soon as she awoke, reporting her vision to Ba'al and all of the island equine. She preached that Ayana was unhappy, and to regain her trust and mercy, they were to respect her earthen gifts and one another, never taking what was not theirs, never mistreating their siblings, and never disrespecting their mother goddess. Some took to the newfound religion immediately and without question, eagerly following Aurora and spreading their goddess's joyous prophecy. Others, however, doubted her, accusing her of a hoax to gain attention and power. Of this group was Ba'al, her own flesh and blood.

Ba'al began to preach his own "visions", as well, thirsting for the power that he watched his sister gaining. He told his followers that Ayana had visited him, too, and told him that Aurora was lying to her children. He reported that their goddess was enraged, and that she had chosen him to seek her vengeance. War quickly broke out and escalated between the two groups, vicious battles breaking out across the islands. Ba'al and Aurora watched their followers fight, until finally the day arrived where they once again came face-to-face. Being twins, they were of the same size and build, and their personal battle was fair and long. However, Ba'al's daughter, Nyx, had been previously told to tip the battle in her father's favor. As surrounding skirmishes yielded to Ba'al and Aurora, Nyx took her chance. A bone-chilling cry rang out from the gathering crowd. Everyone parted and turned to see Aurora's own daughter, Ze'eva, lying bloody and slain, an open wound deep into her skull. Aurora being distracted by her sudden rush of sorrow, Ba'al took his chabce and drove his full force into Aurora's head. She fell, meeting the same fate as her beloved daughter. Nyx made a quick escape soon after. Ba'al cackled maniacally, it is said, even as Aurora's faithful followers overtook him, slaying him where he stood...

Today, descendants of Ba'al, Nyx, Aurora, and Ze'eva still roam the island chains, constantly bickering over their resiliently strong beliefs. War has not emerged since that day, though many believe it is just below the surface. Celestials, Aurora's current followers, now inhabit the Northern Island, while Ba'al's disciples, the Fates, dwell upon the Southern. Public lands have been set between as a buffer zones, but tensions still rage between the equine. Survival depends on numbers here, so the question is: which side will you choose?
